2023 spatial representation of residential structures and number of dwelling units (see limitations) in Chittenden County. This is an updated version of the Housing data which was originally developed in 2004. Previous updates have taken place yearly since 2012 to account for newly developed, renovated, or demolished housing structures.Unlike versions prior to 2013, which were based almost entirely on Grand List and municipal parcel data, updates since 2013 attempt to associate dwelling unit counts with E911 site (Esite) locations (note: if Esite locations were not yet established at the time of the update, the point was manually placed in the centroid of the parcel). It also associates a year-built date for housing structures (see use limitations).Note: Use both the dwelling type field and dwelling unit count field to identify both the type and number of units. There are instances where a unit count is 1 and the type is multiunit due to how it is captured in e-911 data.LIMITATIONS: Some points may not represent the exact location of housing structures if the E911 Esite point was not yet established at the time of the update. In most such cases, points were placed using the E911 COMPOSITE geocoding service (which uses street number to place the point on the associated road where a driveway would be). If the point could not be located by geocoding, it was placed in the centroid of the associated parcel.The year-built data for Shelburne (and possibly other towns) may use 1900 as a placeholder when the exact year built is unknown; additionally, year-built dates may be incorrect, estimated, or unconfirmed (refer to the YEAR_BUILT_DECADE for best estimates).Buildings in all towns may have been renovated extensively and given a newer year-built date than the original construction; these changes are documented as best as possible in the NOTES field.Bedroom count data for Shelburne only includes rooms above grade; there are several bedrooms that are below grade, and since 2008 these have been documented in the town's property record notes.Data for St. George and Huntington may be limited
