Shiva

This is a statue of Shiva, one of the principal deities of Hinduism, Supreme Being within Shaivism, one of the major traditions within contemporary Hinduism. Shiva is the God of Destruction, Destroyer of Evil, God of Yoga, Meditation and Arts. Shiva is depicted in his classic seated pose with four arms holding a trident and a small drum among other emblems that symbolise objects worshipped independently of the divine image with which they are associated. This statue was made during the Hoysala period when worship of Shiva was at its peak.本造像为湿婆（Shiva）之像，湿婆是印度教主要神祇之一，同时亦是当代印度教主流传统之一的湿婆派（Shaivism）中的至高存在。湿婆乃毁灭之神、邪魔的终结者，同时亦是瑜伽、冥想与艺术之神。该造像以湿婆经典的坐姿呈现，其四臂分别握持三叉戟、小鼓，以及其他与该神像相关联、象征独立受祀器物的法相标识。此造像制作于霍伊萨拉王朝时期（Hoysala period），彼时湿婆崇拜已达鼎盛。
