External migration

Migration of persons who belong to the population at the place of the main dwelling before or after the hike. This includes re-registration of secondary residences and new registrations of main residences as well as re-registrations of main residences and deregistrations of main residences.
Extensive registry adjustments were carried out in 2009.
Since 1 May 2011, the full free movement of workers applies to the EU Member States Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Hungary. In addition, the number of refugees has been increasing since 2011, partly due to the civil war in Syria.
Since 1.1.2014 the restriction on free movement of workers for nationals of Romania and Bulgaria has been lifted.
In 2015, more than 1 million people were registered by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, more than ever before. Since then, immigration has weakened.
In 2021, there were increased deregistrations due to registry adjustments as a result of the vaccination campaign in persons aged 70 or more.
