A dataset of randomized controlled trials comparing covered stents and balloon angioplasty for recurrent hemodialysis arteriovenous access stenosis

This dataset was derived from a systematic search of published randomized controlled trials comparing covered stents with balloon angioplasty for the treatment of recurrent stenosis in hemodialysis arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) and arteriovenous grafts (AVG). The literature search was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library from database inception to October 2025, without language restrictions.Eligible studies were randomized controlled trials involving adult hemodialysis patients with recurrent arteriovenous access stenosis and reporting clinical outcomes after covered stent or balloon angioplasty intervention. After screening and full-text assessment, seven trials meeting the predefined inclusion criteria were included, comprising a total of 1,396 patients.Data were manually extracted from the published articles by independent reviewers using a standardized data extraction framework. The dataset includes study-level information on patient demographics, comorbidities, vascular access type (AVF or AVG), lesion characteristics, intervention details, stent type, procedural success, primary patency, and access circuit primary patency at 6, 12, and 24 months. Outcome measures were obtained from reported event data and Kaplan–Meier estimates.All data were obtained exclusively from publicly available published studies, and no individual patient-level or identifiable data are included. The dataset was generated to support reproducibility and secondary analyses of endovascular treatments for hemodialysis vascular access dysfunction.
