CODE-SWITCHING IN MULTILINGUAL COMMUNICATION: A FUNCTIONAL AND MOTIVATIONAL ANALYSIS
Nowadays, many people speak more than one language, and because of that, they often mix languages while talking. This is called code-switching. This article looks at why people do it and what it means in real-life communication. The study is based on simple observation and analysis of everyday conversations among students. The results show that people mix languages for different reasons, such as comfort, identity, emotions, and situation. Code-switching is not a mistake, but a natural and useful part of communication, especially in multilingual societies.
