Active Layer ARCSS grid Barrow, Alaska 2012

Active Layer measurements were taken on a 30 plot subset within the Arctic System Science (ARCSS) Grid in Barrow, Alaska. Each measurement was taken on the north eastern-most corner of each plot. The chosen subset was located from D2-D7 and H2-H7. The Systems Ecology Lab (SEL) lab's Circumpolar Active Layer Monitoring (CALM) depth probe was used. Depth was measured on the probe as the distance from the frozen active layer to the top of the surface of the vegetation. If water was present, then it was measured to the top of the biomass.

活动层（Active Layer）测量工作于阿拉斯加巴罗的北极系统科学（ARCSS）网格内的30个样地子集上开展。每一组测量均在每个样地的东北角进行。所选样地子集的分布范围为D2-D7与H2-H7区域。本次实验采用了系统生态学实验室（Systems Ecology Lab, SEL）的环北极活动层监测（Circumpolar Active Layer Monitoring, CALM）深度探针。该探针的测量深度定义为冻结活动层至植被地表顶面的垂直距离；若样地存在积水，则测量至生物量表层的顶面。
