VPRS 17000 Mining Warden's Court Lease Applications, Sandhurst

In their administrative role Mining Wardens were required to receive and register applications for various mining leases and licences in their area. The types of lease and licence applications which could have been registered include: * Gold Mining Leases (often known simply as Mining Leases) from 1859 * Mineral Leases from 1861 * Mineral Search Licences from 1862 * Gold Mining Leases on Reserved Land from 1873 * Private Property Leases from 1885 * Tailings Licences from 1897 * Petroleum Prospecting Licences from 1935 * Petroleum Mineral Leases from 1935. It is not certain that all of these types of lease or licence were registered by the Wardens. To 1915 lease or licence applications were submitted firstly to the District Warden and then forwarded to the Mines Department in Melbourne. From 1915 there was a requirement that applications be submitted directly to the Mines Department and from there were forwarded to the Warden. These records document cases by number and include the following information: name of applicant and notes regarding the outcome. The arrangement of the cases is chronological.

并非所有上述类型的租约与许可申请均会被监管员登记在册。1915年之前，租约与许可申请需先提交至地区矿业监管员（District Warden），再转送至墨尔本矿业部；1915年起，申请需直接提交至矿业部，再由该部门转送至监管员处。本批记录以编号归档各类案件，包含申请人姓名与申请结果备注两项信息，案件按时间顺序排列。
