Supplementary materials for "Topic modeling in the digital humanities: on replicability and transparency"

This repository contains the supplementary materials for the article “Topic modeling in the digital humanities: on replicability and transparency,” forthcoming in Digital Humanities Quarterly (2026). The deposit documents the topic-modeling workflow used in the article and includes the R Markdown analysis files, derived and shuffled token data, segmented-token files, documented stopword specifications, topic-term outputs, and summary metadata supporting reproducibility and critical inspection of the analysis. The workflow uses quanteda for corpus preparation and document–feature matrix construction, and seededlda for unsupervised and seeded (guided) topic modeling. The segmented versions of the corpus were created as a robustness check in response to reviewer feedback. These materials support inspection, reproduction, reuse, and critical reanalysis of the topic-modeling pipeline.
