RNA-Seq for leaf of Pogostemon cablin

Pogostemon cablin, a herbaceous plant of the Lamiaceae family, is valued for the medicinal and industrial applications of its dried aerial parts. The surface of the plant is densely covered with trichomes, which are commonly believed to be the sites of biosynthesis and accumulation of patchouli essential oil. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the development of these trichomes in P. cablin remain poorly understood. In this study, we identified and characterized the co-regulated genes involved in both trichome development and essential oil biosynthesis in P. cablin through transcriptomic sequencing.
