A dataset looking at the distance between trees, diameter at breast height, and conditions of pairs of trees in close proximity to each other in Danby woodlot on campus at York University.Researchers walked from the outskirts of a woodlot and collected data from the first sighted tree and it's closest pair. Distance between trees were measured by transect measuring tape, from the closest edge of each pair of trees. Diameter of each tree was also measured by transect measuring tape held at a tangent at a height of approximately 110cm. Distance and diameter were both measured in centimeters (converted from meters) while the condition of the trees were simply eyed. Researchers repeated this ten times for ten pairs of trees, each time moving in a straight line deeper into the woodlot. The outskirts of the woodlots are more clear, and trees are a fair distance apart, whereas further in the trees grow more densely packed. This can be seen in the dataset which was recorded on paper at the time.
