Empirical Baryonic Surface–Density–Dependent Resonances in Disk Galaxy Rotation Curves

We report the reproducible empirical detection of baryonic surface-density–dependent resonant modes in disk-galaxy rotation curves using the open SPARC dataset (MassModels_Lelli2016c.mrt, 171 galaxies). Baryonic surface densities were computed in SI units for each radius, and galaxies were classified by their median surface density relative to a canonical thresholdΣψ = 0.286 kg m⁻², tested across the interval [0.26, 0.30] kg m⁻². Residual velocities were analyzed via the Lomb–Scargle periodogram, revealing 227 resonant wavelengths between 1–50 kpc.Median wavelengths differ systematically between low- and high-density regimes (2.5 kpc vs. 5–9 kpc) with p < 0.01 significance at all thresholds.
