Grain Dryer

A potential grain dryer excavated in South Wales. This feaure, although undated, was discovered within a landscape containing ceremonial monuments and could potentially be associated with them. The feature has been interpretted as a grain dryer. This was excavated in the limestone geology of the region with one end stepped and a drystone revetment wall constucted at the other. The base of the feature contained consentrated burn marks indicating the placement of a fire, close to the entrance/opening. Scorch marks were also present on both sides of the feature; these marks also revealed a flat, horizontal base suggesting a raised floor/platform that coinsides with notches in the feature sides to receive beams.
