Probiotics isolated from breast milk

The objective of this study was to isolate and characterize anti-caries probiotics isolated from breast milk, with a specific focus on their ability to inhibit the growth of S. mutans and S. sobrinus. The study investigated the physiological characteristics of the isolated lactic acid bacteria, evaluated their ability to survive and colonize in the oral environment through a series of in vitro assays, and examined the mechanisms by which they inhibit the formation and activity of cariogenic biofilms. Additionally, the safety profile of these lactic acid bacteria was assessed to determine their suitability as probiotics for the prevention and treatment of dental caries.
