Comparison between multiplex PCR and plyNCR RFLP/T-RFLP for the detection of multiple colonization in 141 nasopharyngeal swabs collected during study period 4 for which culture revealed growth of a pneumococcal strain.

Multiplex PCR was performed on DNA extracted from frozen stocks of the primary culture plate. plyNCR RFLP and T-RFLP detected more episodes of multiple colonization than multiplex PCR positive and In 3 of the 8 cocolonization events not detected by multiplex PCR non-typeable pneumococcal strains were involved.本研究对从原代培养板冷冻储存样本中提取的DNA实施了多重聚合酶链式反应（Multiplex PCR）。与多重PCR检测阳性所检出的多重定植事件相比，plyNCR限制性片段长度多态性分析（plyNCR RFLP）与末端限制性片段长度多态性分析（T-RFLP）可检测到更多的多重定植事件；此外，在8例未被多重PCR检出的共定植事件中，有3例涉及不可分型肺炎链球菌菌株。
