Publication Recommendation: The MACS Public Dataset was released by CAMACS (Multi-center AIDS Cohort Study Analysis and Management Center) in 1994, when the MACS Executive Committee put forward recommendations regarding the content of the public dataset. The specific recommendations are as follows:
1) The inclusion cutoff criterion specifies that the collected MACS data should be within the two-year window prior to April 1st of the most recent year;
2) The dataset encompasses baseline and 6-month follow-up interview data, including medical history, behavioral information, SF36 scores, physical examination results, frailty measurements, neuropsychological test results, laboratory test outcomes (neopterin and β2-microglobulin levels for selected participants enrolled between 1984 and 1992), as well as summary documents for HIV status and medical events;
3) Participant anonymity is further ensured by replacing MACS identifiers with random numbers and converting all dates to year-only values;
4) Sensitive information has been reclassified into broader categorical groups. For instance, the count of sexual partners is categorized into three groups: none, one, and one or more.
