The prevalence of diabetes amongst young Emirati female adults in the United Arab Emirates: A cross-sectional study

In this cross-sectional study we recruited 555 female college students aged 17–25,enrolled at United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain, UAE. Anthropometric analysis,blood pressure and various biochemical markers were measured using standardmethods. Type 2 Diabetes, impaired fasting plasma glucose (FPG), and elevatedHbA1c levels were examined in the study population as per the standards of medicalcare in diabetes, set out by the American Diabetes Association in 2020.本横断面研究招募了555名年龄介于17至25岁的女性大学生，受试者均就读于阿拉伯联合酋长国（United Arab Emirates, UAE）艾因市的阿联酋大学（United Arab Emirates University）。研究采用标准化方法对受试者的人体测量学指标、血压及多种生化标志物进行了检测。本研究参照美国糖尿病协会（American Diabetes Association, ADA）2020年制定的糖尿病临床诊疗标准，对研究人群中的2型糖尿病、空腹血糖受损（impaired fasting plasma glucose, FPG）及糖化血红蛋白（HbA1c）水平升高情况开展了评估。
