Genomic analysis of cells grown in monolayer and in three-dimensional egg white spheroids using high-throughput transcriptome sequencing

The study involved culturing liver (HepG2) and breast cancer (MCF7) cell lines as tumor spheroids using egg white as a culture platform. Cells from spheroids have been analyzed for transcriptional changes in comparison with monolayer-cultured cells adopting high throughput sequencing technologies. This genome-level analysis provides a clear perspective that helps to discern genes and pathways that are influenced by the new culture environment established by means of egg white.
