Bacterial ecological response to subsoil amendments: A controlled column experiment

Deep-banded amendment addition is an agricultural practice utlsied across Australia to overcome crop growth constraints. Whilst, showing promising results in enhancing plant growth, the impact of deep-banded amendments on bacterial ecology is somewhat unknown.This project comprehensively examined the bacterial community response to this practice in a controlled environment column experiment with and without the presence of plant growth (Triticum aestivum). We aimed to gain a deeper understanding into how deep-banded amendments alter bacterial ecology and how changes in these communities relates to the wider soil environment.
