In the fall of 2000, we set up replicated (n=4) plantings of 25 of the most common species on Sedgwick Reserve (1 m^2). We selected species from 6 groupings: native perennial grasses, exotic perennial grasses, native annual grasses, exotic annual grasses, native forbs, and exotic forbs. In the spring of 2003, we collected a wide range of data from each monoculture including plant biomass, seed production, root distribution, and data on c and n cycling.
