SBP is used for the treatment of coronary heart disease and its mechanism of action involves promoting angiogenesis. Ginsenosides Rb2 and Rg3, which are constituents of SBP, synergistically increased endothelial cell proliferation, and protected vascular tubes against homocysteine-induced damage. Genes that contribute to proangiogenic effects of the combination were identified through RNA-Seq analysis. Simplified formulations, such as defined combination of ginsenoside Rb2 and Rg3, may be effective against coronary heart disease.
