AMIT survey, data and tables

This entry contains data from the AMIT-project. The AMIT-project aims to assess which interpreting or communication mode is best suited in different situations and to develop guidance on when to use which communication mode and how to integrate it effectively. For this purpose, two surveys were conducted from September 2024 to April 2025 in Switzerland. The surveys targeted 1) healthcare providers and 2) medical interpreters. The survey for hospital employees contained 81 items, divided into four sections: 1) information about the healthcare provider’s demographic background, 2) communication with allophone patients, 3) focus on machine translation, 4) mode selection. The survey for medical interpreters contained 71 items, structured into four sections: 1) information about the participant’s demographic background, 2) experience with interpreting modes, 3) satisfaction with interpreting modes, and 4) the use of translation apps as support, both before and during their assignment. The entry includes: the surveys as PDF and zip-file for direct implementation in Redcap; the raw data as csv tables listing different types of medical encounters and preferred mode of communication
