"Women of Darjeeling Mission Compound. The woman in the centre is a Nepali now married to an Englishman! W. Turnbull's baby with Dyah at right hand[?] of corner". Group portrait of eleven women, half of whom are holding babies, a young boy stands next to his mother and sucks his thumb. All of the women wear traditional dress except the lady in the centre, who is dressed in a western style of long dress, blouse and hat. She also holds an umbrella. ❧ This image belongs to an album of photographs collected by Dr. Stevenson and includes images from India, China and Africa.
