The aim of this study was to assess the community structure of wastewater effluent and downstream river water and the dynamic changes between each of these water types. The experiment was carried out over the course of 15 months with monthly sampling of wastewater effluent and downstream river water. Additionally, wastewater effluent and river water were filtered on site to collect microplastics which were subsequently identified and quantified using an LDIR.
