Metadata for a global atlas of soil microbial genetic resources

We compiled a global database of 1,609 soil metagenomes and found that hotspots exhibiting both high functional gene richness and dissimilarity are rare. Overall, fewer than 25% of hotspots of soil microbial genetic resources fell within designated protected areas. Meanwhile, global patterns of microbial gene richness and dissimilarity were largely decoupled from those in taxonomic biodiversity.本研究构建了包含1609个土壤宏基因组（soil metagenomes）的全球数据库，研究发现，同时兼具高功能基因丰度与高功能基因相异度的热点区域十分稀少。总体而言，仅不到25%的土壤微生物遗传资源热点区域位于已划定的保护区范围内。与此同时，微生物基因丰度与相异度的全球分布模式，在很大程度上与分类学生物多样性的分布模式相互解耦。
