The dataset comprises lightning event records captured by the Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS) onboard the International Space Station (ISS) over the Third Pole region, spanning the period from October 2019 to September 2022. It has been prepared for machine learning applications focused on lightning prediction. The dataset includes the tabularized output of the ISS-LIS retrieval algorithm, detailing the extraction process of spatial and temporal lightning occurrences. Additionally, the methodology used to train six structurally distinct machine learning models is documented, offering a comprehensive framework for replicating and extending the analysis.
