LINGUOCULTURAL FEATURES OF ANTHROPONYMS IN THE EPIC "NAVOIY VA GULI"

The article analyzes the linguocultural features of the anthroponyms (personal names) used in the Uzbek folk epic “Navoiy va Guli.” The character names drawn from the text — Alisher (Mir Alisher, Navoiy), Guli (Gulijon), Husayn Boyqaro, Amir Temur Koʻragon, Abu Said Mirzo, Xadicha begim, Gʻiyosiddin Bahodir, Darveshali, xoʻja Solih — are studied in terms of meaning, structure and cultural content. The names’ connection with real historical figures, the system of ranks and titles, hypocoristic (affectionate) forms, and the correspondence between a name’s semantics and the character’s image are examined.
