Morphological Responses of Abatus heart urchins to Sewage Contamination at Davis Station

Data on the morphological and reproductive responses of 4 species of wild caught Abatus heart urchins (A. nimrodi, A. shackletoni, A. ingens, and A. philippii) to sewage effluent from the Davis station sewage outfall. Between 19 and 21 individuals of each species were collected from three sites close to the station. The Sewage outfall site, which acted as the impacted site for the study, and two reference sites, one at Airport Beach, and a second and Heidemann Bay.Morphological measurements taken from each individual were length, width, height, anterior length, and posterior length. A qualitative assessment of the calcareous test of each individual was conducted to determine the presence of any abnormalities (as per Land 2005, PhD thesis) in the individuals morphology. Reproductive data collected were a gonadosotic index (calculated by dividing the gonal mass of a individual by the total mass of that individual). And for females morphological measurements (length and width) of each brood pouch were taken, and the type and number of juveniles in each pouch was counted.Data available: In the spreadsheet provided a description of measurements is given in the first tab. 对每只个体开展的形态学测量指标包括体长、体宽、体高、前体长及后体长；同时参照Land（2005）博士论文的方法，对每只个体的钙质壳（calcareous test）开展定性评估，以判断是否存在形态异常。

繁殖相关数据包括：性腺指数（gonadosomatic index，原文笔误为gonadosotic index），计算方式为个体性腺质量除以个体总质量；对于雌性个体，额外测量其每个育幼囊（brood pouch）的长与宽，并统计每个育幼囊内幼体的类型与数量。

本数据集已整理至电子表格中，各工作表内容如下：
1. 第一个工作表：提供本研究所有测量指标的详细说明；
2. 第二个工作表：呈现全部形态学与繁殖学数据，具体字段包括：亲本条形码（Parent Barcode）、个体条形码（Individual Barcode）、采集日期（动物实际采集时间）、处理日期（数据录入时间）、采样位点、物种、性别、其他项目采样情况（涵盖形态学、遗传学、组织学采样）、形态学测量指标（体长、体宽、体高、后体长、前体长，单位均为毫米）、观察到的6种潜在异常中的任意一种、育幼囊形态测量指标（雌性个体4个育幼囊的长与宽，单位为毫米）、繁殖适合度指标（含4个育幼囊各3个发育阶段的幼体数量，以及成年雌性产生的幼体总数量）、总湿重（整只动物的质量，单位为克）、性腺湿重（个体的性腺质量，单位为克）、性腺指数（以性腺湿重除以个体总湿重得到的繁殖适合度指标）；
3. 第三个工作表：包含用于记录数据的空白数据表；
4. 最后两个工作表为辅助定性评估的附录：
- 附录1：提供阿巴特属海胆已知形态异常的图文说明（改编自Lane（2005）博士论文）；
- 附录2：提供阿巴特属海胆幼体各发育阶段的图文说明。
