Habitat had long been proposed as a “templet” for ecological strategies of organisms in nature. While protists are widespread in soil and play an important role in maintaining soil ecological functions, little is known about the habitat dependence of characteristics of soil protistan communities, especially at large spatial scales. Here, we characterized the protistan communities of 270 soil samples collected from five habitat types (i.e., farmland, forest, Gobi desert, grassland, and mine wasteland) to unveil the habitat-specific diversity, functional attributes, environmental affinities, and co-occurrence patterns of soil protists.

生境长期以来被提议作为自然界生物生态策略的模板(templet)。尽管原生生物(protists)广泛分布于土壤中,并在维持土壤生态功能方面发挥重要作用,但目前对土壤原生生物群落特征的生境依赖性仍知之甚少,尤其是在大空间尺度下。本研究对取自5类生境类型(即农田、森林、戈壁荒漠、草原和矿山废弃地)的270份土壤样本中的原生生物群落进行了解析,以揭示土壤原生生物的生境特异性多样性、功能属性、环境亲和性以及共现模式。
