Since the reintroduction of Père David's deer in Dafeng in 1986, the captive Père David's deer population has achieved ideal reproductive outcomes thanks to suitable habitats and effective management, laying a solid foundation for the restoration of wild Père David's deer populations in the Southern Yellow Sea Wetlands. However, long-term captive rearing has weakened the adaptability of Père David's deer to wild environments, posing certain challenges to the wild population restoration work. Drawing on domestic and international wildlife conservation experiences, this project uses advanced research technologies to artificially and systematically release captive Père David's deer from the reserve into the natural environment of the Southern Yellow Sea Wetlands, aiming to investigate the behavioral rehabilitation and mechanisms of adapting to natural environments during the wildization process of released Père David's deer. The project focuses on studying the post-wildization survival ability, foraging strategies, home ranges, behavioral patterns, as well as the relationship between the behaviors of wild Père David's deer and human activities. In addition, GIS (Geographic Information System) is widely applied to the dynamic monitoring of flora, fauna and various other ecological factors in the Southern Yellow Sea Wetlands, so as to support the management of the tidal flat wetland ecosystem in the region and continuously improve the wetland ecological monitoring system. Restoring wild Père David's deer populations in the Southern Yellow Sea Wetlands, the historical habitat of ancient wild Père David's deer, also provides a benchmark for other wildlife conservation practices. The implementation of this project has effectively promoted local ecological construction and facilitated the healthy development of the local social and economic conditions, playing its due role. The effective protection of the Southern Yellow Sea tidal flat wetland, the habitat of wild Père David's deer, has maintained local ecological security and the stability of the microclimate environment, and promoted the harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. At present, the number of wild Père David's deer has exceeded the minimum viable population (MVP), and the population is growing steadily, laying a solid foundation for the ultimate goal of restoring wild Père David's deer populations. The survey and research on coastal tidal flat biodiversity also provide scientific evidence for the scientific planning of biodiversity conservation in the Southern Yellow Sea tidal flats, and can serve the advancement of local ecological civilization construction.
