In depth Anopheles gambiae hemocyte transcriptome annotation

Hemocytes are circulating immune cells that are major players of cell -mediated immunity against pathogens in mosquitoes. They are very small cells with low RNA content. Hence the annotation and identification of the transcripts expressed in them is compromised during the transcript annotation of the whole adult organism. In this project, we build a novel in-depth hemocyte transcriptome annotation using extensive bulk RNA sequencing of RNA isolated from hemocytes of A. gambiae female mosquitoes, with high coverage to detect transcripts present in low abundance. The identification of the transcripts expressed will provide greater insights in understanding the molecular mechanism of hemocyte function and greatly improve further transcriptomic data analysis.
