Infra-low frequency neurofeedback in primary headache: a cross-over sham-controlled study

The dataset represents two studies on the efficacy of infra-low frequency neurofeedback in primary headache. The migraine study included 10 patients and the TTH study included 8 patients. The studies included 4 phases: (1) pre-intervention (at least 2 weeks in migraine and at least 3 weeks in the TTH study), (2) first intervention (neurofeedback or sham, 5 weeks), (3) second intervention (neurofeedback or sham, 5 weeks), (4) catamnesis (at least 3 weeks). The order of neurofeedback and sham phases was randomized. The neurofeedback phase included 10 sessions of infra-low frequency neurofeedback. In the TTH group, we made a 2-week brake between the end of second and the start of the third phases.
At enrollment, demographic and psychometric scales data were collected, as described in the migraine_demographic.csv and TTH demographic.csv files: MHDs - monthly headache days, STAI - Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, BDI - Beck Depression Inventory, MMPI - Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, TAS - Toronto Alexithymia Scale 20.
During the study, the participants filled the headache diary – files migraine_diary.csv and TTH_diary.csv, including duration of pain (“pain_hours”) and its intensity (“pain_intensity”). Neurofeedback and sham neurofeedback sessions are indicated in the diary in the “nf_session” and “placebo_session” columns, with total count being accumulated in the “nf_to_date” and “placebo_to_date” columns. “Visits” corresponds to both real and sham neurofeedback sessions.
