Gut microbiome diversity of fecal samples from a Paraguayan cohort

This is the first characterization of the gut microbiome from a Paraguayan cohort. Sixty fecal samples were analyzed via 16S rRNA sequencing and diversity was evaluated in terms on sex, age, BMI, habits, diet, and clinical history of each participant. This study expands our understanding of traditionally understudied populations from the Global South.
