My research focuses on improving how we assess and reduce the damage to infrastructure that occurs when soil liquefies during an earthquake. Liquefaction causes soil ground to behave like a liquid, leading to extensive damage and posing serious risks to public safety. In this project, I developed an advanced computational tool capable of accurately modelling large ground movements and associated structural deformation during seismic events. The new approach enables better risk assessment and guides safer engineering design of geotechnical structures in liquefaction-prone areas, thereby contributing to safer and more resilient communities.
