VPRS 16624 Base Plans (Aperture Cards)

This series consists of aperture cards which are copies of Base Plans commissioned by Department of Crown Lands and Survey (VA 538) and produced by the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission (VA 723). The aperture cards are the microfilm copy produced of the Base Plans that the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission produced for their own reference purposes, before providing Department of Crown Lands and Survey with the original hardcopy set (as at September 2011, hardcopy set not held in PROV custody).In the 1970's the Chief Surveyor of the then State Rivers and Water Supply Commission agreed with the Department of Lands and Survey to create Base Mapping at 1:2500, 1:5000 and 1:10000 for all the large urban areas within Victoria as part of the overall Department of Crown Lands and Survey mapping of the state. The State Rivers and Water Supply Commission produced all relevant maps in Bendigo, Northern Victoria, Werribee, Mornington Peninsula, Gippsland and Mildura. The project was funded by Department of Crown Lands and Survey and the maps were produced by the Survey Draughting Section of the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission.The Base Plans comprise both topographical plans (contours, spot elevations and water courses); and cadastral plans (property boundaries). Contours were created by stereo-mapping form aerial photography; these contours are now part of the state digital topographic digital map base. Land parcel definition was plotted from title searches and parish plans and currently are the background of the state digital cadastral map base.Each aperture card provides the following details: Drawing Number, the Prime Rectangle also Scale and Grid Reference; Sheet (number); Issue (seems not used); FR. of FR. (abbreviation unknown); DWG Size; Date Photographed; Drawing Index.

本系列藏品包含缩微孔径卡（aperture card），均为王室土地与测量署（Department of Crown Lands and Survey，档案编号VA 538）委托制作、州河流与供水委员会（State Rivers and Water Supply Commission，档案编号VA 723）产出的基准蓝图复制品。该缩微孔径卡为州河流与供水委员会为自身参考用途制作的基准蓝图缩微复制品，该委员会在向王室土地与测量署交付原版纸质图纸套装前完成该缩微复制——截至2011年9月，该原版纸质套装并未由维多利亚州档案馆PROV馆藏。20世纪70年代，时任州河流与供水委员会的首席测量师与王室土地与测量署达成协议，将为维多利亚州所有大型城区制作比例尺为1:2500、1:5000及1:10000的基础测绘图，作为该署全州测绘工作的组成部分。州河流与供水委员会负责制作本迪戈、维多利亚州北部、韦里比、莫宁顿半岛、吉普斯兰及米尔迪拉地区的全部相关测绘图件。本项目由王室土地与测量署资助，图纸由州河流与供水委员会测绘制图科完成制作。基准蓝图包含两类图件：地形测绘图（含等高线、地面点高程及水系）与地籍测绘图（含宗地边界）。等高线通过航空摄影立体测图生成，现已纳入全州数字地形地图底图。宗地界址依据产权查询结果及教区图纸绘制，目前为全州数字地籍地图底图的背景图层。每张缩微孔径卡均包含以下信息：图纸编号、主矩形格网、比例尺与网格参考系、图幅编号、发布版本（未实际启用）、FR. of FR.（缩写含义暂未明确）、图纸尺寸、拍摄日期、图纸索引。
