The source data of this dataset are derived from the 1:1,000,000 scale Chinese Soil Map of the Second National Soil Survey (Shi et al., 2004) and 8595 soil profiles. We adopted the polygon linking method to connect soil profiles with soil map patches to generate maps of soil sand, silt and clay contents. During the linking process, the distance between profiles and map patches, the number of soil profiles, and soil classification information were taken into consideration.
