Diversity and Abundance of Insects at York University

The study was conduct by Shelly, Carmen, Dorsah and Navdip. The study was conducted at York University at the pond near the Osgoode building as the grass land and woodlot, on Monday September 29 2014. The study was conducted in the after afternoon between 2:30 pm and 4 pm. The weather was 24 °C and it was sunny. The purpose of the experiment was to measure insect abundance on York University’s grassland and woodlot. To retrieve the data, a quadrant was placed on the ground in 10 random sections of the grassland and in the woodlot. The number of insects was then observed by gently moving the grass or weeds to see any hidden insects, within the quadrat.
