This database, the Database of Mammal Species and Their Distributions in the Alpine Gorges of Southwest China, contains a mammal checklist of the Hengduan Mountains, species conservation information and national distribution information. The checklist includes family names, genus names and valid scientific species names. The conservation information covers the national key protected wildlife level (2021), CITES Appendices (2019), IUCN Red List (2021) and China Species Red List (2021). The distribution information includes whether the species is endemic to China, as well as the provincial-level administrative regions within China where the species is distributed. The data are sourced from museum specimens of the Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, specimens collected during the project implementation period, captured infrared camera photographs and relevant literature. The data quality is reliable. This database can provide basic data support for research and conservation of mammals in the alpine gorges of Southwest China.
