Single cell transcriptome analysis of mouse achilles tendon

Tendon tissue growth is promoted by appropriate mechanical stimulation, but the mechanism is not well understood. scRNA-seq using tendon and muscle tissues from 2-week old BL6N mice revealed that Piezo1, a mechanical stress-responsive channel receptor, is expressed in clusters of tendon cells. Tendon tissue growth was promoted in Piezo1 gain of function mice, suggesting that Piezo1 plays an important role in tendon tissue growth.
