Two fragments of a depiction of the Nativity

These are the two fragments of the relief depicting the Nativity. One part depicts Joseph Crouching and another part depicts two Shepherds with a dog. The Nativity of Jesus has been a major subject of Christian art since the 4th century. The artistic depictions of the Nativity or birth of Jesus celebrated at Christmas, are based on the narratives in the Bible, in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, and further elaborated by written, oral and artistic tradition.此为两件描绘耶稣诞生（Nativity）场景的浮雕残件：其一刻画了俯身的圣约瑟夫，另一件则展现了两名牧人与一条犬。自公元4世纪起，耶稣诞生主题便成为基督教艺术的核心创作题材之一。圣诞庆典中纪念的耶稣诞生艺术形象，均以《圣经》中《马太福音》与《路加福音》的叙事内容为依据，并经由书面、口传与艺术传统进一步演绎完善。
