Guaruba guarouba is endemic to the Brazilian Amazon, with limited occurrence to the south of the Amazon River and east of the Madeira River. There is a modeling based on habitat loss that indicates a population decline of between 23% and 40% in three generations, involving past and future. In addition, an analysis of habitat loss in three past generations indicated a population decline between 30% and 50%.
