Hydrogenophilus thermoluteolus TH-1 is a Gram-negative, aerobic, thermophilic, chemolithoautotrophic hydrogen-oxidizing bacterium. The optimum temperature for growth is about 50-52 ?C. It can grow not only autotrophically using H2, O2 and CO2, but also heterotrophically in organic media. The bacterium is a promising biocatalyst for production of useful materials from CO2.
