Medicine. This manuscript is now IO Islamic 854 in the India Office collections. Size 101/2 in. by 61/2 in.; foll. 775. Twenty-three and twenty-five lines in a page. Part of a large Commentary (ممزوج) on the first book of the Ḳânûn (الكلّيات) , by ḲUṬB AL-DÎN MAḤMÛD b. Mas'ûd b. Muṣliḥ SHÎRÂZÎ (d. A.H. 710). Cf. Ḥ. Kh. iv. 498; Casiri, i. 291; Cat. Bodl. ii. 160. This commentary is called التحفة السعدية , from its dedication to Sa'd al-dîn, Wazîr to Sultan Khudâbandah. The preface begins: انّ اولى ما افتتح به خطاب الخ . Written in various hands, often without distinction of text and commentary. Ends abruptly in the second فنّ . After fol. 387 is a lacuna. Foll. 262-269 should be placed in the following order: 262, 266, 263, 264, 267, 268, 265, 269. [Johnson.]
