Dissolved organic matter in biochar (namely dissolved black carbon, DBC) has high mobilization nature. DBC could be loaded into water bodies through agricultural runoff. Comprehensive assessments about the effects of biochar-derived DOM on aquatic microorganisms are essential before widely application of biochar. In this study, the effects of DBC originated from corn straw biochar on transcriptomic- characteristics of Nostoc sp. PCC7120 (a diazotrophic cyanobacterium) was investigated, and the possible mechanisms for the toxicity of DBC were explored.
