The ZUMABUS contains three main survey focus areas: 1. Questions on parliamentarianism 2. German version of the SLFS scales (Social Life Feeling Scales) 3. ZUMA standard demography. Topics: 1. Questions on parliamentarianism: general judgement on the job of the German Federal Parliament; constitution knowledge; attitude to criticism of the government by friends; assessment of the job effort of members of Parliament in committees and in plenary sessions; judgement on this division of work; preference for more speeches or more discussion in the conference hall; attitude to more work by the representatives in small groups; assumed purpose of the Federal Parliament debates. 2. German version of the SLFS scales: translation for German-speaking countries of the Social Life Feeling Scales developed by Karl Schuessler in the USA: psychological self-characterization; feeling of loneliness; usefulness of life; optimism; pessimism; trust in the future; feeling of happiness and general contentment with life; attitude to government and politicians; trust in the people and selected institutions; socially desired responses (SDS scale). 3. ZUMA standard demography: age; sex; marital status; religious denomination; religiousness; school education; occupational training; occupation; occupational position; income; sources of income; characteristics of spouse; household size; household composition; party preference (Sunday question); self-assessment of social class; social origins; regional origins; memberships. Interviewer rating: willingness to cooperate of respondent; presence of other persons during interview; intervention by third parties in interview; length of interview; characteristics of interviewer; date.
