资源简介:
A collection of video images was obtained using a downward-looking camera mounted on the UK ISIS Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), deployed from the RRS James Cook during cruise JC241 in the abyssal plain (~4100 m depth) of the Clarion-Clipperton Zone, Pacific Ocean, in 2023. The images were obtained in an area under contract to UK Seabed Resources for exploration for deep-sea minerals through the International Seabed Authority. The expedition was independent from UK Seabed Resources. At the time of the expedition there had been no test mining in the area, so the images show natural baseline conditions. The Insite Pacific Super Scorpio camera system (http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/L22/current/TOOL1934/) mounted on the ROV collected downward-looking video images at a target altitude of 3 m above the seabed. They relate to the still images collected during the same transects (doi:10.5285/298e66b2-d9d1-2f58-e063-7086abc085bf) using a different camera system on the same ROV. The data were collected by scientists from the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, UK as part of the NERC-funded Seabed Mining And Resilience To EXperimental impact (SMARTEX) project (NE/T003537/1).
