资源简介:
To date, extensive monitoring has demonstrated that effects of dredged
material disposal are generally only short-term. When monitoring data suggest
unacceptable contamination, management actions can be taken to contain the
sediment. Contaminated sediment can be effectively isolated from the marine
environment by capping with clean sediment and/or placing it in the center of
planned depressions or by burying it in-place (Confined Aquatic Disposal [CAD]
cells). We continue to use monitoring data to refine these techniques and
develop new techniques.
To effectively manage disposal events and disposal sites to ensure minimal
environmental impact. We will continue to monitor disposal events and disposal
sites and to develop new techniques for safely disposing of dredged material
unsuitable for unconfined ocean disposal. More effective methods to collect and
measure field bioaccumulation in small benthic organisms. Studies executed by
DAMOS contractors and shared with general public. DAMOS is always ready to
discuss collaboration with others on scheduled Program surveys.
