NRS-22495 | Photograph Albums

These albums contain black and white photographic prints taken by the Photographic Section of various railway-related subjects. A photograph number appears beneath the image. The following prefixes, relating to the type of subject matter, have been allocated to the photograph number (series numbers for negatives are in brackets): - M = Mechanical Branch (R279 = NRS-22818) - PR = Public Relations (R185 = NRS-21573) - S = Signals Branch (R190 = NRS-22474) - T = Traffic Branch (R273 = NRS-22818) - V = Views (R277 = NRS-22818) - W = Way and Works Branch (R274 = NRS-22818) Shot books (R172 = NRS-22457) are available for photographs with prefixes PR, S, V and W. Some photographs are water damaged (PR14285-14811, S2936-S3839). Item start and end dates are circa only. Custody History From 1955 until 2000 the State Rail Authority of New South Wales maintained an 'in house archives' consisting of the archival records of the Authority, its predecessor agencies and the private railway companies taken over by the government. The date ranges of the records were from 1849 until 2000. When the decision was made to close the 'State Rail Archives' the parts of the collection that were required as State archives were transferred to the State Records Authority of NSW. Those record series were incorporated into the State Records series system of archives control and were re-numbered. This series was formerly part of the State Rail Archives collection where it was identified as series R310. It may have been viewed in the State Rail Archives as series R310 and could have been previously cited as such in notes by researchers at State Rail Archives or in publications or unpublished works.

保管沿革
1955年至2000年间，新南威尔士州铁路管理局（State Rail Authority of New South Wales）建立了内部档案馆，馆藏涵盖该局、其前身机构以及政府接管的私营铁路公司的档案记录，档案时间跨度为1849年至2000年。新南威尔士州铁路管理局决定关停其铁路档案馆后，符合州档案馆馆藏标准的藏品部分被移交至新南威尔士州档案管理局（State Records Authority of NSW）。该批档案系列被纳入州档案管理体系，并重新赋予编号。
本系列原属新南威尔士州铁路档案馆馆藏，原编号为R310。此前在铁路档案馆查阅时，该系列可能以R310编号被识别，且曾被铁路档案馆的研究者在笔记、出版物或未刊作品中以此编号进行引用。
