Dissimilarities Between Luminal and Mucosal Microbiota among Fecal Microbiota Transplant Recipients

Fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) is a safe and effective treatment for Clostridium difficile infection (CDI). The mechanism of action of FMT involves recolonization of the colon with microbiota from a healthy donor. The data in this submission is 16S rRNA sequences from ten patients who underwent Fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) for recurrent Clostridium difficile infection (CDI). We analyzed these sequences to characterize the microbiota diversity changes in FMT recipients associated with CDI resolution. We also compared colon biopsy and stool sequencing results to evaluate how these sampling methods might agree in disease states.
