This sculpture is head of one of the three lions discovered at the entrance to an early religious complex. The animal's snarling teeth may have been a warning to visitors about the power of the God who resides within the building. The head was discovered in the temple of the god Min at Koptos, Egypt and was created in the last Predynastic Period.
