Bacteriophage genome sequencing

Due to the global spread of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria, phage-based control of bacterial pathogens (phage therapy) has reemerged as an attractive alternative. However, a deeper understanding of phage host range, biology and genomics are very much crucial for the successful application of phage therapy. With the continuous advancement in next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, rapid progress has been made in the area of phage genomics. The project is focused on isolation and genome sequencing of phages from aquatic environment.
